Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit MangaHaul (mangahaul.com). The short version: I do not ask for your name or email, there are no accounts or comments, and the only data collected comes from analytics, from ads served by Google, and from embedded manga panels.

What I collect

I do not collect personal information directly. The site has no sign-up, no comment form, and no newsletter.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, your browser and device type, how you arrived at the site, and which affiliate links you click, once the site has any. This information is sent to Google. I use it only in aggregate, to improve the site.

• Not used for ads. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off for my analytics account, so analytics data is not used for advertising. Ads are covered separately (see Advertising).
• Retention. Google Analytics keeps this data for 14 months, then deletes it.
• Click tracking. The site has no affiliate links yet. Once it does, when you click one, I record which partner and which page it points to. I do not send an affiliate ID or any information that identifies you.

Google describes how it handles this data in its "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" page. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense, Google's advertising service. Here is what that means for your data:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• Third parties, including Google and other ad networks that Google works with, may place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ads being shown on this site. These ad networks use the data under their own privacy policies. Google explains what it does in its "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" page.
• I do not receive personal information about who sees or clicks an ad, only summary reports.

Opting out of personalized ads: visit Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your past visits.

Where the law requires it, including in the EU, the UK, and Switzerland, ads use cookies for personalized advertising only after you agree.

Your choice about cookies

My cookie banner covers analytics and embedded manga panels. For ads, see Advertising above.

In some regions (including the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, and some territories), and whenever I cannot tell where you are, I ask for your permission first. Google Analytics does not load at all until you press Accept, and it never loads if you press Reject. In other regions, analytics starts right away. The same choice decides whether embedded manga panels from Alu load on their own (see Embedded manga panels).

Wherever you are, you can say no at any time: use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page and press Reject. After that, this browser is not measured, I delete the Google Analytics cookies I can reach, and embedded manga panels wait for your click. Cookies that Alu has already set belong to Alu; you can delete them in your browser settings. You can change your mind the same way.

To work out whether to show the choice, your browser asks this site which country your request comes from. Cloudflare answers from your IP address. I do not store that answer on my side; your browser keeps it only until you close the tab. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, with the date, and expires after 12 months. If your browser blocks local storage, the choice only lasts until you leave the page.

Affiliate links and partner cookies

MangaHaul does not currently work with any affiliate partners, and none of its links are affiliate links (see the Affiliate Disclosure). If that changes, I will update this policy. Here is how affiliate links usually work: when you click one, the shop it leads to may set cookies in your browser so it can tell that your visit came from MangaHaul and credit me if you buy. Those shops collect and use data under their own privacy policies. I would not receive your personal information from them, only summary reports of clicks and sales.

Embedded manga panels (Alu)

Some posts embed manga panels from Alu (alu.jp), a Japanese service that shares panels with permission from the publisher and the author. An embedded panel is not stored on this site: it loads from Alu's servers. When it loads, Alu receives technical data such as your IP address and browser details, and it may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy. I do not receive that data.

In the regions where I ask for permission first (see above), and whenever I cannot tell where you are, a panel does not load until you click "Load manga panel from Alu" or press Accept in the cookie banner. The click loads that one panel, this time only; it is not remembered. If you press Reject (in the banner, or later in "Cookie settings"), panels also wait for your click, wherever you are.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

Cookies and how to control them

The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics (only if you allow it, or if you are in a region where analytics starts by default), from Google and other ad networks when ads are shown (see Advertising), and from Alu when an embedded manga panel loads. Once the site has affiliate links, affiliate partners may also set cookies after you click one. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, the site still works.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If I change this policy, I will update the date at the top of this page.
